Use the Nissan and Renault Platforms, the Mitsubishi Outlander Generation Released in 2021
The quiet news of the Mitsubishi Outlander generation is no longer a figment. The car is rumored to also be sharing the platform with Nissan and Renault.
Launch Autoindustriya, Chief Operation Officer of Mitsubishi Motors, Trevor Mann, has even confirmed that the new generation Outlander crossover will be released in 2021. The confirmation was given during a press conference the global premiere of New Mitsubishi Triton.
He also validated the matter of sharing the platform. Nissan will likely use the X-trail and Renault Koleos generations. Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi is incorporated in one alliance, so all three are fair if sharing platforms.
This news was also interesting because this happened after Nissan acquired 34% of Mitsubishi's shares, effectively making Nissan the biggest Mitsubishi shareholder and bringing the company into a successful Renault-Nissan Alliance. Trevor Mann himself was a former Nissan executive who was tasked with improving the performance of the Mitsubishi company.
Such alliances are not only carried out by all three. For example, Toyota and Suzuki, who now also have similar working relationships.
